  America's World War I Heroes. Six items: Autograph Letter Signed by William H. Johnston, signatures of James Harbord, C. E. Rosendahl, Hunter Ligget, and Robert Lee Bullard on various size cards, and the Seattle Daily Times Armistice Extra Edition. Johnston's brief letter outlines his feelings about his military success ("…I was lucky, lasted longer than some, served forty two years on the active list…"). Conditions range from very good to fine. A lot of America's World War I commanders and a newspaper celebrating their triumph over "Kaiserdom."

British World War I Royal Marine Light Infantry Uniform. Tunic in heavy red and blue wool with white facings; long service stripes on lower left arm and brass buttons with insignia of the RMLI. Stamps inside show it was issued to H. Pentelow in May 1909. Trousers in very heavy blue wool with red side stripes. Light service wear but overall very good condition.

Early 20th Century Knight Templar Sword. This exceptionally nice example of a Templar ceremonial dress sword was made by The Cincinnati Regalia Co. Ohio, to an overall length of 37". The highly decorated etched and gilt 28" blade is custom named to "Harry L. Ward". The ivory grip is inscribed and inked with the Templar Cross and "HW". The base with head of a medieval knight, decorated quillons and an armour helmet as pommel, all gilt. The highly decorated and gilt scabbard, also named to Ward, is embellished with red and blue enamel on the crosses. Some age toning but excellent condition overall.

Imperial Austria Officer or Civil Official Dress Sword. Late 19th century to World War I period. Overall length 35" with the etched and decorated nickel plated 29" blade marked "Weyersberg & Stamm Solingen." The floral decorated guard and backstrap, the former with a crowned Austrian eagle coat-of-arms, are heavy brass and the grip with fine bluish-gray wire wrapped fish skin. The worn scabbard is black leather with decorated brass fittings, including the crowned monogram of Emperor Franz Joseph, and tip protector. The leather on the inside (not seen as worn or displayed) is dried and seperated along the stitching, and a small nick on the front leather. Excellent condition except as noted and scarce.

Pair of South Korean Award Plaques to Brigadier General George Sammet, Jr. 1) Bronze & enameled 11 3/4 inch diameter circular plaque to Sammet as Colonel and Commanding Officer of the 4th U.S. Army Missile Command 1963-64 in Korea. The central missile "patch" is surrounded by eight distintive insignia in colored enamel. With reverse hanger. Very Fine.
2) An 11 inch diameter circular bronze plaque for meritorious service with South Korean forces as Senior Advisor and Brigadier General, from Korean Lieutenant General Lee Min Woo, Commanding General 5th ROK Corps. Center design of ancient and modern Korean buildings and monuments. Extremely Fine with tassel hanger. Both with personalized engraved naming to Sammet. 2 pieces.

Prussian Officer's Dress Sword. Ca. late 19th century through World War I. Overall length 39", the polished 31" steel blade in very good condition. The black wire wrapped grip having a gilt monogram of Emperor Wilhelm II and the guard and pommel in gilt metal with a folding knuckle guard mounted with a crowned Prussian eagle and leather finger hold, the hilt retaining about 70% of the original gilding. The black steel scabbard with about 85% or more of original paint. Only slight age wear on this still attractive first war example.

Stanley Navigational Rolling Rule with Protractor - WWI Era. Brass navigational instrument marked "Stanley, London." The rule's rolling motion simplified course and plotting calculations, while the unique radial arm allowed automatic compass corrections. 18" long and 7" high. Housed in the original mahogany box with label: "W.F. Stanley & Co. Ltd., Opticians to H.M. Government, Railway Approach, London Bridge…." One of the catches on the box needs a small nail replacement; otherwise, in very good condition.

U. S. Naval Commander's Dress Hat, Belt, & Epaulettes, c. WWI. U.S. Naval Commander's "fore and aft" dress hat, belt, and two sets of epaulettes, circa World War I. Black with gold trim. All housed in a period black tin container (probably the original). The name "Lt (MC) F.W. Ryan" is written in pencil on the sweat band. The size 7¼ hat has a British coat of arms in the lining; the dress epaulettes were made in France, and the second set of epaulettes were made by Viking, New York.

World War I Marine Corps Poster. "Put Fighting Blood In Your Business". Signed Dan Smith at lower right, 28" x 19", laid down on linen. A very dramatic scene of Marines charging into battle with the American and Marine Corps flags leading the way, biplanes above. At left an eagle on a shield with list of campaigns. A caption below urges employers to hire the many brave returning war veterans. Published by the American Red Cross and the Dept. of Labor. A handsome, evocative and rare Marine Corps poster.

World War I Period Austro-Hungarian Army Drum. Dimensions 15" across by 7" high. The brass body with a high relief double headed Imperial eagle; below impressed "34 Ret. Graz", i.e. 34th Regiment from the city of Graz. The top and bottom retainers have been repainted in the correct colors and the top drum skin has likely been replaced, though the bottom one may be old. With original maker plate of "C.A. Wunderlich Musikinstrumente Siebenbrunn (Vogtl.)". Attractive and scarce.

World War One Era Musician's Tunic of the Royal East Kent Regiment (The Buffs). Red and white wool tunic, possibly of a bugler or drummer, with dual color piping, fancy fringed epaulets and broad, crown decorated, stripes and buttons at the back. A small patch or insignia has been removed from the upper right arm. Worn paper maker's label inside. Light age wear and minor soiling, but still nice.

The gilt bronze guard with "USN" within an acorn leaf and fish design, with wire wrapped & white fish skin grip. The scabbard in black leather with gilt fittings in a knot design and a fish encircled tip. Average wear and some mild soiling, otherwise very Good, with the BB&B blade still very nice. Scarce.
